Fans of Wrexham have voiced their opinions about the naming of their new 5,500-seat stand; some think its Hollywood owners need to be recognized.

Consequently, what happened?
Some Wrexham supporters suggested naming the stand after their A-list owners, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, in a recent Leader survey. They said that if Hollywood had not led them to the upper rafters of League Two, the new seating would not have been feasible. In 2017, some supporters demanded that honors be given to the late Ian ‘Jacko’ Roberts, a Wrexham superfan, or the legendary Joey Jones.

WHAT THE FANS OF WREXHAM SAID
“It should be called The R & R Kop stand,” a fan stated. It would never have been constructed without Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.”

A different supporter commented: “How can we realistically not call it something that includes our current owners’ names, as well as the Wrexham Supporters Trust – they saved our club!”

THE LARGER IMAGE
The Welsh club has undergone a full transformation since Reynolds and McElhenney acquired it. Wrexham had spent fifteen years in the National League before the Hollywood investment. Nevertheless, Wrexham advanced to League Two in just two seasons and appear set to earn consecutive promotions to League One. Wrexham supporters, in spite of their quick ascent to prominence, will probably turn to their past to determine their current stance and hope that Reynolds and McElhenney can prolong the good times.

FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
Next weekend, Wrexham will play Blackburn in the FA Cup Fourth Round. But if the Red Dragons want to have a chance to win, they need to silence the returning Sammie Szmodics.
