If Abdallah Sima’s injury is as severe as initially thought at the African Cup of Nations, Stevie Clifford has insisted that Rangers might not see him again this season.
It might be too late in the season to see Sima in a Rangers shirt again if he misses three months due to the injury and starts his rehabilitation at the beginning of May, according to the host of the Four Lads Had A Dream podcast.
Clifford stated that they could go that route. Clifford’s loan period is scheduled to expire at the end of the current campaign, raising questions over whether he could return to Brighton sooner rather than later.
“If this is as bad as it might be with a three-month absence, you’re looking at him being out until the end of April, then his rehab begins, and we’re a couple of weeks into May,” Clifford said in an interview with The Rangers Review on January 24. Regretfully, Abdallah Sima may not return, at least not this season.
“In the worst case, Brighton might think, ‘Let’s get him back,'” I would guess.
Cross your fingers.
Clifford’s suggestion would, of course, represent the worst-case situation in terms of Sima’s injury. He might yet appear before the season’s conclusion on May 19th, even with the three-month timeline that would see his comeback near the end of April.
Many people at Ibrox will be crossing their fingers that Sima will still be wearing the Blue shirt at Ibrox in the future, whether it be on his loan transfer this season or in a deal with Brighton.
Sima’s agency indicated he was pleased in Glasgow, which has sparked rumors that he would want to stay at Ibrox permanently at the end of the season. Whether or not that materializes will depend on when his loan agreement expires.
As things stand, it looks likely that he will stay at Ibrox to receive treatment from Rangers personnel, but if Brighton decides to summon him back to conduct their own evaluations and rehabilitation program, the Gers won’t be able to stop them.
