Marseille remain locked in talks with Arsenal over a deal to sign Nottingham Forest loanee Nuno Tavares.

This has come to light courtesy of Charles Watts.

So, what has the journalist said about Arsenal defender Tavares who is currently on loan at Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

What Charles Watts has said about Forest defender Nuno Tavares

Well, it would appear that this situation is very complicated and could get very messy.

According to Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts, Marseille are keen to sign Tavares this month in a permanent deal.

The man on loan with Forest would be keen to make the move, although Nuno Espirito Santo wants to keep him at the City Ground.

As of now, things are extremely complex – although Arsenal are keen to cash in on the 23-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Tavares has earned a shot in the Forest team of late and the player started against Blackpool and Brentford.

Clearly, Espirito Santo has seen something in him and Forest holding a desire to keep Tavares is making this station very complicated.

Forest could act later in the window

Although the transfer window only has another week left to run, the Reds might choose to offload Tavares later in the window.

Ultimately, at the moment, Forest are short of options at full-back with Ola Aina and Serge Aurier both on African Cup of Nations duty.

Tavares hasn’t looked particularly brilliant during his time at Forest and he’s proved a waste of a loan.

Forest haven’t done particularly good business with their loan deals this season and improvements are required going forward.

Tavares isn’t going to be at Forest long term and if he wants to leave Forest would be wise to terminate their association with him.
