Ben Godfrey, a defender for Everton, is a target for Leeds United, but there may be competition from European teams.

TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook gave GIVEMESPORT an update on Leeds United’s interest in acquiring Everton defender Ben Godfrey, indicating that Sheffield United and foreign teams may present competition.

Godfrey, an Everton defender, may leave Goodison Park before the transfer window closes because he has been having difficulty finding playing time this season. It’s possible that Daniel Farke is looking for a new center back, preferably someone who can play several positions. Reinforcements might be needed to assist the Whites get across the finish line as they are fighting for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Godfrey left Championship team Norwich City in 2020 to move with Everton for a reported sum of about £20 million. Despite being an important member of the team and turning in some standout performances while with the Toffees, the England international has dropped in Sean Dyche’s hierarchy.

Leeds is up against rivals for Godfrey.
Leeds is reportedly one of the teams interested in Godfrey, but TEAMtalk also reports that the defender would want to move abroad, with AC Milan taking a look at the defender. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Genoa is also interested. Genoa is owned by 777 Partners, who have agreed to take over Goodison Park. Leeds may struggle in the race because of the presence of certain elite teams, but a departure is possible given the Toffees’ financial need.

Godfrey might be a helpful, adaptable alternative for Farke because of his extensive playing experience at a variety of positions. In the January transfer window, the Yorkshire team lost two full-backs in Djed Spence and Luke Ayling, so having a man who can play on both sides of defense would be really helpful.

Godfrey’s future was recently discussed by Everton manager Dyche, although he was unable to provide an update on whether a departure was imminent…

“Ben is adjusting quite well; he has an exceptional work ethic and is well-liked by the group. He is certainly angry that he hasn’t had as much playing time as he would have liked, but I must clarify that he isn’t upset with me or the circumstances; rather, he is frustrated at not being able to play. That being said, he is a tremendous professional who keeps pushing both himself and the team because that is the kind of guy he is.

Alex Crook – Godfrey conversations taking place

Crook has suggested that Leeds are one of the sides who are interested in signing Godfrey this month, along with Sheffield United and clubs from overseas. The talkSPORT reporter adds that conversations are happening regarding a potential deal at the moment, but Everton would like to sell him rather than a loan with only 18 months left on his deal. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Crook said…

Wilfried Gnonto – future update

Wilfried Gnonto was the story of the summer transfer window at Elland Road. The Italian international made it clear that he wanted to leave the club, handing in a transfer request with Premier League side Everton pushing to secure his signature. The young forward ultimately remained with the Yorkshire outfit for the first half of the campaign, but with the January window in full flow, question marks have arisen once again regarding his future.

It’s understood that a host of clubs remain interested in the 20-year-old, with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claiming that nothing is close or imminent despite teams showing an interest. Now, according to The Athletic, Gnonto is close to signing a new contract with the club. Despite his lack of game time this season, Leeds clearly see him as a player for the future that they are desperate to keep at Elland Road.
