This month, a number of Premier League full-backs have been linked to Leeds United.

Leeds is looking for at least one new player after losing both Djed Spence and Luke Ayling earlier in the transfer window. Daniel Farke has acknowledged that the team is currently short two players.

Leeds still have three loan slots available to use in the final week of the window and have been looking at fringe players in England’s top-flight as a way to strengthen their squad.

Right-back has so far been the biggest area of concern and there have been links to the likes of Connor Roberts, Ben Johnson and Neco Williams. Deals for the latter two look tough to pull off, though.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Leeds are said to be leading the chase to sign Liverpool right-back Calvin Ramsay, who is also attracting interest from fellow promotion hopefuls Southampton.

Leeds leading Southampton in Ramsay chase

Ramsay spent the first half of the season on loan at Preston North End but was recalled early by Liverpool after his spell at Deepdale was heavily impacted due to injury.

It was reported last week that Leeds are considering a move for Ramsay before the end of the window and this latest update would suggest they have made a firm approach after coming up empty handed in their pursuit of Williams.

Ramsay is a player Leeds have been linked with before when he was back at Aberdeen, though he instead opted to make the move to Liverpool. He has made just two appearances for the Reds.

The 20-year-old was extremely highly rated at Aberdeen, with the club’s chairman claiming he was one of the best young right-backs in Europe before they sold him.

Liverpool and Scotland teammate Andy Robertson is also of the opinion that Ramsay is full of potential, and a loan spell at Leeds could be what he needs to unlock it.
