According to Kadir Cetincali, Rangers are not in a “comfortable position financially” because they are still waiting for Galatasaray to pay a transfer fee so they may sign Ridvan Yilmaz during the January transfer window.
On Wednesday, January 24, the journalist for Ajans 1905 tweeted that the Turkish team and the 22-year-old left-back have struck an agreement, and that there has been “no problem” in that regard since last week.
However, he went on to say that the Gers haven’t “stepped back” from their demands for the cash payment necessary to let the Turkish international move out of Ibrox this month.
Odd
Rangers are in an odd situation right now because over the last several days, there have been a number of stories indicating that Yilmaz and Galatasaray had reached an agreement.
After the defender thrust himself into Philippe Clement’s first-team plans over the last several weeks, the club must stick to their assessment of him.
Borna Barisic appears to have fallen behind the left-back in the pecking order, thus the manager of the Gers would suffer a blow if the player moved before the transfer window closed.
It makes no sense to retain a player around who isn’t fully committed to supporting the team achieve its goals this season if he does wish to depart Ibrox.
But with only a few days remaining in the window, the Light Blues have every right to demand a fair transfer fee for the Turk, since they will need to bring in a replacement.
