Cyriel Dessers, a striker for Rangers, said he thought about his cheeky finish in the victory over Hibs and believed the best was still to come.

The 28-year-old Nigerian striker, who was born in Belgium, hasn’t been without detractors since joining Ibrox in the summer from Serie A team Cremonese.

After stuttering through his transition to Glasgow, the hitman is starting to settle in at Rangers and make good on the rumored £4.5 million that was paid for his services.

The striker scored his seventh Premiership goal of the year against Hibs, and he believes it’s only the beginning. Six of the goals have come since Philippe Clement joined the team.

Cyriel Dessers: “There’s more to come”

Speaking after the victory over Hibs, where Cyriel Dessers had just calmly rolled the ball past David Marshall with one of his first touches to round off a 3-0 victory, the hitman was in buoyant mood.

There’s a cultishness growing in the fandom of the striker and Dessers has told fans that the only way is up.

And when asked if there is still “more to come” the striker was clear he is very much still building.

“Definitely,” said Dessers. “I think am growing the last months, especially since the new gaffer came you can see it in my stats, in my performances.

“But I think there is still more to come and I hope I can show it in the next weeks and months.”

Rangers striker ”embraces” Ibrox pressure

Cyriel Dessers has also been talking about the pressure of playing for Rangers as he addressed the media following the victory.

The ex-Feyenoord striker has been one whose mentality has been questioned in the face of the daily pressures of playing for Rangers.

But as he begins to settle into life in the Glasgow gold fish bowl, the striker has gone from resisting the pressure to full on embracing it.

“You have to appreciate it. I played at other clubs where it doesn’t matter that much when you draw a game or when you lose a game, but you don’t want that actually.

“You want the pressure, you want the people who are committed to the club, who care about the club. So actually I like it and I think we should embrace it, all of us.”

Cyriel Dessers has made 32 appearances so far for Rangers, scoring 11 goals and laying on seven assists.
