Despite all of the progress Leeds United has made under Daniel Farke this season, it seems likely that the Yorkshire team will have to face the playoff lottery if they hope to get promoted right away because there is a lot of competition for the top spots.

Even with Southampton’s dominant play and their recent relegation, an automatic return to the Premier League is still possible for the Whites, who have closed the gap on high-flyers Ipswich Town thanks to a solid start to 2024.

The Elland Road team will probably need further reinforcements this month to bolster Farke’s position if they are to sustain their recent progress. The German is reportedly keeping an eye on one brilliant top-tier player.

Leeds is interested in signing the young Premier League star.
Leeds is rumored to have “registered their interest” in Liverpool playmaker Mateusz Musialowski, with the team’making checks’ over the 20-year-old’s availability, according to a report from Football Insider earlier this week.

Up to seven clubs have reportedly indicated interest in signing the talented Polish midfielder this month, according to the article, with the Championship team ‘firmly in the race’ for the player whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Even if the Anfield academy star hasn’t yet made a debut in the first team under Jurgen Klopp, a transfer to Elland Road would be the ideal chance for this brilliant gem to demonstrate his abilities at the highest level.

play style of Mateusz Musialowski Leeds does, of course, already have their own bright young player in Archie Gray. This season, the 17-year-old has made 29 appearances across all competitions, and he recently signed a new ‘long-term’ contract with the team.

Ironically, Liverpool has recently shown interest in the adaptable wonderkid, who can play at right-back or in central midfield. A sum of £40 million has even been mentioned, demonstrating the true talent of the Englishman.

Farke may have found a player in Musialowski, though, who has the potential to surpass Gray even more given that the Poland U21 international has received high praise for his youth-level exploits.

The five-foot-nine playmaker, who has been compared to former Chelsea and Belgium star Eden Hazard and called a “Little Messi” by his countryman Jerzy Dudek, has drawn attention recently. In just 11 games this season, he has scored eight goals and provided eight assists for Liverpool’s U21 team.

Journalist Lewis Bower praised the in-demand jewel for his “ridiculous quality” last year. He also gained additional recognition after scoring a stunning solo goal for the Reds in 2021, even beating out a more experienced teammate to earn the club’s Goal of the Month title.

It’s clear why the then-teenager has drawn comparisons to both Messi and Hazard based on the way he maneuvered through a sea of bodies and then fired a ferocious effort toward goal. Farke is undoubtedly excited about the possibility of having a possible world-beater on his hands.

It’s not easy to go from playing in an academy to flourishing in the first team, as Gray has done with ease, but if Musialowski is given a big position at Leeds when a deal is finalized this month, all the signs point to his potential for success.
