Wrexham has scored 54 goals in 27 League Two games, which is the fourth-highest total so far this season. They have enough of goals to attempt and propel them to the third division of English football right away.

The League One attackers Jonson Clarke Harris, Stephen Humphrys, and Aaron Collins of Peterborough United, Wigan Athletic, and Bristol Rovers, respectively, have all expressed interest in joining the Red Dragons at various points during the January transfer window. Nevertheless, the Red Dragons are always linked to new strikers.

Although Phil Parkinson appears to be tracking a new name currently, Wrexham will need to overcome a number of teams from the higher tier if they are to land this specific target.

Wrexham joins the hunt for Marriott, a striker for Fleetwood

Football Insider reports that Wrexham is eager to add Jack Marriott, who is now at Fleetwood Town, to their attacking lineup, which already has Ollie Palmer, Paul Mullin, and Steven Fletcher at the top of the Racecourse Ground.

After making 24 appearances this season and scoring five goals in League One, the 29-year-old—who has been with the Cod Army since January 2023—may be leaving in the last week of the transfer window.

However, a number of League One teams are eager to get former Derby County and Peterborough forward Marriott, who is leaving Charlie Adam’s struggling Lancashire team.

According to Football Insider, Oxford United, who is vying for promotion, and Stevenage, who rejected a summer transfer bid of over £500,000, are both interested in Marriott. The latter team gave up on their pursuit of Marriott.

But more recently—last week, according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon account—both Carlisle United and Bristol Rovers have indicated interest in signing Marriott on loan for the balance of the 2023–24 campaign. The Gas may try to replace Aaron Collins with the Fleetwood player, as Bolton’s £600,000 offer for the 26-year-old Welshman was turned down.

Despite having 18 months remaining on their contract, Marriott was permitted to leave Fleetwood Town.

Although Marriott signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Fleetwood, paying Peterborough about £250,000 a year ago, he is free to leave Highbury Stadium after just 12 months.

Even though Charlie Adam has a wealth of talented attackers at his disposal, Alan Nixon reported earlier in January that Town was looking to offload the seasoned striker due to his salary, which are among the highest in League One.

Adam’s options have been further expanded with the addition of Ronan Coughlan from Waterford this month. With Fleetwood languishing at the bottom of League One, the team may use a siege mentality throughout.

Although Marriott hasn’t performed badly this season, he has been benched for two of Fleetwood’s last three games, which raises the possibility that he may be leaving.

But if Wrexham prevails in the competition to get Marriott, it would only increase their offensive arsenal’s opulence, and you would think he would ensure goals at the fourth division level. That might be a huge turning point for Parkinson and company.
