It’s been rumored that as we try to balance our books, interest in Aston Villa’s star player, Jacob Ramsey, is growing.
Due to his long history with Villa and his Academy education, the 22-year-old has become a vital member of the Villa team, and naturally, there is a closer bond with him.

His season has been severely hampered by injuries this year, as he has only made 14 appearances and scored one goal. However, as we witnessed under Unai Emery’s leadership the previous season, when healthy and on form, he can play a crucial part for us.

But according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Ramsey is reportedly being courted by Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Bayern Munich. A lot will rely on our financial situation and our capacity to hold onto him.

Additionally, it states that Villa needs to raise money by the end of June in order to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules; hence, proposals above £50 million may be taken into consideration.

Significantly, though, he also points out that there are other ways we can balance our budget if Villa decides not to pay Ramsey, and Jhon Duran leaving is one possible way to assist us get there.

Though the Jack Grealish incident may have taught us not to get too close to certain players in the past, it’s hard to avoid feeling let down and angry at the prospect of maybe having to see Ramsey leave for financial reasons.

Losing one of our own, a crucial member of Emery’s team, and a possible future face of the team would be devastating, so maybe the Villa administration and hierarchy can find another way to get to where we need to be for PSR purposes.

Nothing seems imminent at this point, and Villa is still being connected to a bid for Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers in a deal rumored to be worth a total of £15 million.

It has to be seen how that fits into our off-field and on-field plan, but ideally it won’t be done with the intention of moving Ramsey on, and we’ll be able to find another way to meet PSR requirements without having to give him up.
