Oscar Cortes is closing in on heading to Ibrox before the January deadline, and the Daily Record reports that Rangers and Lens engaged in late-night discussions over a loan arrangement for him.

Cortes has been heavily linked to a move to Rangers in recent days; some reports even said he was headed to Glasgow; however, these speculations have since been refuted as negotiations are still ongoing.

The winger, who joined to Lens on a permanent deal in 2022, spent the previous season on loan at Millonarios in Colombia. He has only made four appearances in Ligue 1 this season, recording one goal and one assist.

Since Michael Beale virtually completely eliminated the squad’s wingers in favor of his specialized formation in January, which ultimately contributed to his dismissal and Philippe Clement’s subsequent arrival, wingers have been a major objective for Clement.
