Florian Plettenberg reports that Tim Steidten, the technical director of West Ham, is a contender for Liverpool’s sporting director position.
On Wednesday, January 31, the journalist from Sky Sports said via X that the German, who assisted in completing the signings of Mohammed Kudus, James Ward-Prowse, and Kalvin Phillips, is a possibility to take over the empty position at Anfield.
Despite being admired by the Reds, Steidten is content with his current post at the London Stadium and has not yet had a direct conversation about it with those in power at Anfield.
Hold on.
With Steidten’s arrival at the London Stadium, West Ham has been able to significantly increase their level of recruitment. The German has been in charge of a significant roster transformation under David Moyes, which has made them a formidable force in the Premier League and around Europe.
The Hammers are now signing players of a far different caliber. Some of Europe’s best players, like Kudus and Edson Alvarez, passed down bigger, potentially more alluring possibilities to play for West Ham.
Even if Moyes deserves a lot of the credit for his on-field efforts, Steidten’s work behind the scenes has undoubtedly helped, and losing him at such an early stage of his East London career would be devastating.
The German is content in his current position with the Hammers, so perhaps that will prevent him from choosing to transfer to Anfield. Nevertheless, West Ham needs to be keeping a very close eye on this issue to see how it might play out.
