In the latter part of the January transfer window, Aston Villa is emerging as one of the busiest Premier League teams.

It is now anticipated that a minimum of three new players would join Villa Park prior to the window closing on Thursday, February 1.

According to reports, the Villans are getting close to signing Lino Sousa, Joe Gauci, and Morgan Rogers.

Fabrizio Romano gave an update on Villa’s pursuit of the latter, who is expected to join from Adelaide United, just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to the transfer insider on X, Villa has finalized the agreement to sign Gauci from Adelaide for a cost of €1.5 million (£1.3 million) plus add-ons.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper for the Australian national team has already finished his medical and signed a deal that would keep him at Villa Park until June 2028.

“Lino Sousa and Gauci are Villa’s final additions,” Romano said. “Today, Morgan Rogers is scheduled to sign the contract.”

Aston Villa is adding players for the here and now.
This has been an incredible season for Aston Villa both on and off the field. In addition to dominating the Europa Conference League, the Villans are soaring through the Premier League.

Additionally, they performed remarkably well in the summer transfer window and are adding three elite players in the January transfer window.

Gauci is a highly regarded talent in Australia who is predicted to have a bright future, despite his lack of recognition on these shores.

Daniel McBreen, a former professional striker and Paramount+ analyst, predicted that the Australia national team would undoubtedly have him on their radar for the 2026 World Cup, according to A Leagues last year.

“After the last World Cup, a lot of people talked about how, if he kept up his current trajectory, he would be a part of that cycle. And he’s keeping up that pattern. He’s doing a great job.

“Every aspect of his game—you’re not observing and concluding that he is lacking in strength here.

He can make excellent saves with his feet, receive crosses, and use his height to his advantage. His reflex saves, particularly the first one to his right, were outstanding.

Gauci appears to be a very talented player going forward. It’s great that Aston Villa noticed him, and maybe he can reach his full potential.
