Oscar Cortes from Lens is expected to join with Rangers soon as the agreement to bring him to Ibrox is finalized, as reported by Four Lads Had A Dream.
On Wednesday, January 31, the podcast announced via X that the winger had reached Glasgow and was at Ibrox completing the conditions of his transfer. He will become Philippe Clement’s team’s third January window addition.
Cortes is anticipated to be announced as a Rangers player sooner rather than later, and an official statement from the Light Blues is anticipated at any time. However, no precise timeline has been set for the announcement.
“Oscar Cortes deal is done, he is here and finalizing the move,” they wrote on X. I’m ready for a Rangers announcement at any moment.
One more to go
In the last few days of the January transfer window, Rangers significantly increased its hiring, and it looks like the team is assembling a strong enough roster to contend for the Scottish Premiership this year.
Even if the Gers are currently behind Celtic, they should be able to close the distance before the season ends with the appropriate acquisitions this month. The signing of Cortes is a big step in the right direction.
Clement prefers to use wingers in his lineup, but the Belgian isn’t exactly spoiled for choice in those positions right now, especially with Abdallah Sima expected to miss a significant amount of time due to an injury sustained at the African Cup of Nations.
Ideally, Cortes can make it into the starting lineup and contend for a spot out wide for the Gers every week against players like Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo. Supporters won’t have to wait too long for an announcement, that much is certain.
