During that time, he apparently attracted the attention of many teams, and given the number of important players who were departing Elland Road during the summer, it was likely that he would go.
Gnonto might have believed he had a decent chance of getting out of the club if other people left.
The Italian could have been sold to raise money to pay for acquisitions, although Leeds didn’t make much money from sales in the summer due to the departure of some important players on loan.
But the Whites took a tough stand against the player, and in August, they informed the winger and his agents that they would not allow him to go during the summer transfer window.
