Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are getting nearer to signing in January! Wrexham is in advanced negotiations to sign a new midfield midfielder.

Consequently, what happened?
The Manchester City academy graduate was reportedly the target of an offer from the Red Dragons earlier this week, but Salford swiftly rejected it. But since then, the two parties have undertaken extensive conversations, according to Peter O’Rourke of Football Insider, and Wrexham’s offer has risen, meaning that a signing is imminent. The midfielder would be Phil Parkinson’s first acquisition in January as the team, controlled by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has been patient in the negotiations.

PARKINSON’S MENTION
Parkinson provided an explanation for the club’s lack of January additions in comparison to many of their rivals when he spoke to The Athletic last week. “There are a lot of enquiries going on but, equally, we have some good players ready to make a big contribution,” he added. We will try to get a player if we believe he or she can help us. We search nonstop. Since signing players is a competitive business, it can sometimes resemble a game of poker.

“I’m always hearing that football doesn’t pay well. However, every time we approach a player to sign, they tell us they don’t need the money and hence don’t need to sell.

THE LARGER IMAGE
2019 saw Bolton, at 19 years old, make his professional debut while on loan at Wycombe Wanderers. He never played for Premier League champion City’s first squad, even though he was signed with them until 2022. Bolton joined with Salford after departing from the Premier League winners in January 2022. He made 92 appearances for the Karl Robinson-led squad over the course of the following two years, chipping in with 15 assists and 6 goals.

FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
To support their present attack force, the Red Dragons are apparently searching for a striker as well. But there’s not much time left before the transfer deadline. Following their next game against Salford, the team will play again, and if Bolton signs with the team, he may play against his old team a few days after leaving them.
