Mahmoud Dahoud, a midfielder for Brighton, has been loaned to Stuttgart until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old German, who left Borussia Dortmund in June of last year to join Albion, is back in the Bundesliga after making 14 appearances for the team in all competitions.
But he only managed six Premier League starts as he found it difficult to fit into Roberto De Zerbi’s system at the Amex.
After being shown a straight red card in a match against Sheffield United, which resulted in a surprising 1-1 draw for the bottom-of-the-league team, he was recently suspended for three Premier League games in England.
Although the player has only managed one assist during his time on the South Coast, club president David Weir called it a “good move” for the midfielder.
Weir, the technical director, stated: “Mahamoud is doing well with this.”
He will have the chance to play frequently for a team that is performing admirably and is vying for the top of the Bundesliga. We hope he has a successful remainder of the campaign.
Stuttgart, which is presently third in the Bundesliga standings after Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, has been one of the surprise shocks of the season.
Stuttgart, led by Serhou Guirassy, who has 17 league goals this season, second only to Harry Kane (23), appears to be guaranteed a spot in the Champions League the following season.
Brighton has made less progress this season than it did under De Zerbi, after making headlines for their quick ascent.
The Seagulls, juggling their domestic campaign with life in the Europa League, are in eighth position with just eight victories from 22 games and a goal difference of one.
The M23 derby at home against Crystal Palace is De Zerbi’s team’s next match.
After defeating Sheffield United 5–0 in a thrilling five-goal thriller, Roy Hodgson’s Eagles will be hoping to generate some momentum to start 2024 for the south London team.
