With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, the Los Angeles Lakers were considered to be back on track as one of the top teams in the league and a legitimate threat to win it all over the next several years after an incredible run to the Western Conference Finals the previous season.
Sadly, the legendary Los Angeles Lakers haven’t had a good 2023–24 NBA season; as of now, the squad has fallen short of expectations.
Before their game against the bitter rival Boston Celtics on Thursday, the Lakers had a losing record of 24–25.
James posted a mysterious tweet on Twitter with an hourglass emoji on Tuesday night, following the Lakers’ convincing loss of their second straight game. This suggests that the team is officially out of time and that either head coach Darvin Ham should be fired or the team needs to make some moves before the NBA trade deadline.
Through NBA on ESPN, Michael Wilbon of ESPN was questioned about James’ cryptic tweet and his interpretation of its meaning.
“Time is of the essence,” Wilbon declared. “And we’re lacking in quality. When we discuss how competitive people may be in athletics and whether they have a strong enough spirit, you can sometimes get the straightforward conclusion that these guys aren’t talented enough.
Even when they’re healthy, Wilbon seems to be spot on in his appraisal of James and the Lakers, as they haven’t been able to play consistently well this season.
Nevertheless, it’s impossible to predict what will happen to this squad in the future or whether they will make any audacious decisions in the coming week or so.
