Utility player Liam McAlinden has left Wrexham AFC by mutual consent, effective immediately, the club can reveal.
The 30-year-old, who assisted Morecambe in winning promotion the season before, became Parkinson’s first recruit when he signed with Wrexham in July 2021.
After joining the STōK Cae Ras, he made several significant contributions on and off the field and helped the team win the title in the record-breaking 2022–23 season.
The Wrexham supporters will never forget him for initiating the play that resulted in Paul Mullin’s incredible goal against Stockport County in the FA Trophy, which guaranteed the Red Dragons a trip to Wembley.
Including his six games for the Red Dragons this season, McAlinden made 64 appearances overall while in North Wales, scoring one goal.
“We wish Liam all the best for the future,” said manager Phil Parkinson. “He has been a great person to have around the squad over the last couple of years and has made a real contribution both on and off the field.”
We would all want to thank Liam for his efforts while he was a member of Wrexham AFC, and we wish him the best of luck in all of his future endeavors. The Club will always be happy to have him.
