It may be time for the Los Angeles Rams to begin considering their alternatives after veteran tight end Tyler Higbee was hurt by a low hit during a game against the Detroit Lions. Tyler Higbee’s lengthy recuperation was exacerbated by his torn MCL and ACL. Even worse, the injury happened late in the season, so the Rams would be wise to search free agency for a tight end given that he will miss the start of the campaign. And among the free agents, Mike Gesicki, a former member of the New England Patriots, is one of the more fascinating names.

The six-year veteran’s last two seasons have not been the best; the year prior, he only started one game and only played 50% of the snaps.

However, Gesiciki was one of the NFL’s more reliable tight ends prior to that, having recorded over 700 receiving yards in two seasons. Even if he was just given a starting role until Hibgee recovered from his injury, the 28-year-old could demonstrate that he still had it in him to play. With six years in the NFL, Gesicki would be seen as a veteran, much like Higbee, and may be a nice fit for the Rams. Finding a replacement for backup tight end Davis Allen or exploring free agency are both viable options for the Rams, but they must act quickly to address the situation.
