On transfer deadline day, the most recent rumors and news regarding transfers in January pertaining to Brighton & Hove Albion and the Premier League.

With the January transfer window rapidly coming to an end, reports suggest Brighton is planning to recruit a teenage player from Sunderland.

Brighton is “closing in on a deal” for offensive midfielder Josh Robertson, 18, according to Craig Hope, the Daily Mail’s North-East football correspondent. Robertson is 18 years old.

Hope wrote on X, “Very highly rated for an eighteen-year-old.” The contract ends in the summer. There might be activity today.

“Understand Josh Robertson is in Brighton finalising his move from Sunderland,” Hope said in an updated post.

Roberton has not yet played for Sunderland’s main team, but he has left a lasting impression on the academy squad.

In 12 games this season for the under-18s, the midfielder has six goals and two assists.

Robertson’s rumored move occurs after Mahmoud Dahoud’s loan move to Stuttgart was accomplished.

The out-of-favor midfielder and fellow Albion loanee Deniz Undav, who has scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season, will reunite.

David Weir, technical director, stated: “This is a wise decision for Mahmoud. He will have the chance to play frequently for a team that is performing admirably and is vying for the top of the Bundesliga. We hope he has a successful remainder of the campaign.
