The renowned Welsh actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, who is well known for his parts in Hannibal, The Silence of the Lambs, and Father, has agreed to play a surprising role for Wrexham AFC.

The 86-year-old, who has linked up with Hollywood celebrities and Wrexham AFC owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has won two Academy Awards, four Bafta Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award.

“We picked up a key player in the transfer window,” Reynolds wrote on social media following the end of the window. Anthony Hopkins, sir.”

A video of Hopkins at the Racecourse Ground stating, “To act is to deceive,” was shown in conjunction with this. And one must forget oneself in order to deceive. Every transformation is difficult, but turning into this beast needs a little more push.”

Then Sir Anthony yells, “Now hear me roar,” before donning the Wrex the Dragon mascot’s outfit, entering the field, and interacting with the spectators by saying, “This is what they came to see.” They cherish me. Clap loudly.” The humorous one-minute short is an advertisement for Wrexham AFC’s official stadium sponsor, Stok Cold Brew Coffee.

On Saturday, Wrexham, who are presently ranked second in Football League Two, will travel to Salford City to play them. The docuseries Welcome To Wrexham, which debuted in August 2022 and became an immediate hit, recently took home four Emmys from McElhenney and Reynolds. The program is currently in its second season.
