Wrexham will put in a lot of effort, according to Phil Parkinson, to stop their downward trend and resume their League Two promotion challenge.

The Peninsula Stadium hosted a disheartening 3-1 loss against Salford City on Saturday, marking the Reds’ third straight loss across all competitions.

This is the first time Wrexham has lost two straight league games during the regular season since Parkinson took over in July 2021.

Wrexham faced a daunting task after falling behind 2-0 in the first 16 minutes due to set-plays. Despite Sam Dalby’s strike shortly before halftime, Salford’s third goal early in the second half made it impossible for Wrexham to rally.

With a game remaining, fourth-placed Wrexham is only six points behind leaders Stockport County despite their defeat, but Parkinson is aware that the dismal run cannot go on.

“I said to the lads that individuals have to find a way to play better in these types of games and collectively we need to do better,” the manager of the Reds added.

“We knew what to expect, so we selected powerful, physical players like Aaron Hayden and Jordan Tunnicliffe, but we still gave up two goals from set pieces.

“Every season has slumps when things don’t go your way. We need to fight hard to get out of this rut as soon as possible, and we will.

“Over the past few months, there haven’t been many declines.
