According to the Standard, West Ham was one of the teams keeping an eye on Jesse Lingard during the January transfer window, but they were hesitant to sign him.

On February 6, the newspaper said on its website that he was being considered by West Ham following his productive loan stint in 2021, but that he was now expected to finalize a transfer to FC Seoul in South Korea.

After firing his agents in January due to a lack of interest, Lingard has agreed to a two-year deal with the club and completed a physical. He is currently in Seoul to finalize the conditions of the move.

West Ham has now moved beyond Lingard.
Although David Moyes was supposedly interested on the deal, there was real interest in getting Lingard back to the London Stadium in the summer, but nothing ever came of it.

He was trained with the Hammers for a considerable amount of time, and in order to close the deal, the team even paid for his hotel, a driver to get him to and from training, and all the coaching and medical support he required.

Given that circumstance, their stated interest in January is surprising—despite their unwillingness to sign him, which has resulted in his current destination of South Korea—but it was inevitable that they would keep an eye on him.

The Hammers were expected to attempt to add some forward alternatives during the January transfer window, particularly with Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals departing and a mini-injury crisis involving the absence of players like Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen, and Mohammed Kudus.

Although Lingard was never going to be that man, given that Moyes is intimately acquainted with him, the interest could make sense as a backup plan.

Another piece of West Ham news is that a player may be getting a new deal.
