Under Roy Hodgson, Crystal Palace finds itself at a perilous crossroads once more. Steve Parish may now resort to a successor who hasn’t played in the Premier League because the Eagles are struggling and the supporters are starting to lose interest in the seasoned manager.

Even though Hodgson is still in command, his three victories in his last eighteen games doesn’t exactly guarantee his job, and Palace’s most recent 4-1 thumping at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion may signal the end of his second stint as manager. The former Liverpool manager faced criticism for his choice to insert Michael Olise into the game when Palace was already trailing 3-0 against Brighton, even before their top player sustained a serious injury.
Nevertheless, it has been stated that Palace has already discussed the possible position with both former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper and former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui, albeit both are hesitant to take over in the middle of the season. Furthermore, The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel claims that Crystal Palace is interested in Oliver Glasner.
At Eintracht Frankfurt, where he worked for two years and won the Europa League in the 2021–2022 season, Glasner had his most recent managerial position. The Austrian has not had a job since departing the Bundesliga club in the summer of last year.
Should Selhurst Park lose out on players like Cooper and Lopetegui, Glasner might be a great backup option for Palace to consider as they continue to think about Hodgson’s future.

While both Lopetegui and Cooper provide Premier League experience, Glasner would offer the excitement of the unknown in terms of English football. Hodgson’s 4-3-3 system would be interestingly replaced by Glasner’s preferred 3-4-2-1 lineup, with the former Frankfurt boss maybe extracting even more performance out of Eberechi Eze, who would be playing a more advanced central role. The Palace star currently plays in a midfield three, which may soon prove to be restrictive if the Eagles start to lose ground.
Thus, Glasner is undoubtedly a strong contender, and if Hodgson’s results don’t improve, we might get a better look at his leadership style in the Premier League.
