Before their encounter against Ross County on Wednesday night, Mohamed Diomande, a recent transfer to the Rangers, has emphasised that he and his Ibrox teammates are not considering climbing to the top of the tight Premiership.

If Philippe Clement’s squad defeats managerless County by three goals at Govan over the midweek, they would surpass their city rivals Celtic and take the first spot in the league table. But Diomande has obviously adopted Clement’s ethos since going to Scotland last month—he is not interested in his team’s league standing and is solely focused on performances. Clement has made this point clear on multiple occasions.

The Scottish Cup victory over Ayr United at Ibrox on Saturday night saw the Ivorian midfielder make his debut for Rangers. The victory maintains the Viaplay Cup champions’ aspirations of winning a domestic triple this season.

The 22-year-old, who was signed for £4.5 million last month after being plucked from Denmark’s Nordsjaelland, acknowledged that he came to Scotland in order to win trophies. He clarified, though, that he was only considering the County fixture in the future.

“Knowing the club was a big and ambitious club was one of the main reasons I joined,” he stated. “The coach and the boys have already achieved success and taken home a prize.

“But since I recently joined and am just concentrating on the upcoming game, I won’t be talking about anything. The upcoming game is the most crucial for me since we can only get trophies if we win. We’ll wait and see what transpires. For us, it’s simply the next game, like I mentioned.

With the support of the Rangers fans, Diomande has stated that he will not have any trouble explaining the significant sum of money required to obtain his signature. He also expressed optimism that he can become a regular member of the first team at Ibrox.

He remarked, “I wouldn’t say this is really a big pressure.” “The supporters are incredible. Both last week (in the 2-1 victory over Aberdeen) and this past Saturday, when I made my debut. They embrace me with open arms. I’m hoping I can repay them. It is a significant investment, yes. However, I’ll just focus on how I can better myself and how I can support the team in achieving their goals here. I adore it.
