Oliver Glasner, the new manager of Crystal Palace, has been forewarned that the Premier League will “bombard him with stereotypes.”

At least, that’s what PULS 24 specialist Johnny Ertl—an Austrian musician with first-hand experience playing in England—says. Earlier this week, Glasner was officially announced as the new manager of Crystal Palace, taking over for Roy Hodgson, who decided to resign from his position at Selhurst Park after a trying few months in command.
There is a lot of excitement surrounding Glasner’s arrival as the Austrian coach comes after leading Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League championship.

Although he hasn’t had a job since leaving the German team in the summer, there was a time in his career when he was connected to a role at Bayern Munich, which is encouraging for Crystal Palace supporters.

With the two leagues being so different, it remains to be seen if he can replicate his success in Germany in England, a challenge that has proven challenging for a number of managers.
Given that Glasner played for Crystal Palace during his playing career, Ertl is aware of the prejudices that he will encounter. The pressure is undoubtedly on. He declared, “Every Austrian working overseas is very important for the country, for its image abroad. It was evident when I travelled to England in the manner that I did at the time—I was an Austrian skier wearing lederhosen. Even if the English market is the largest in the world, we remain unique.

It’s really profitable already. Oliver will undoubtedly succeed despite the preconceptions that will undoubtedly be thrown at him. What I want to emphasise is that the reputation of Austrian football is greatly influenced by every Austrian player that represents his country in England.

“We now have a great team, an Austrian in charge of Crystal Palace, and a national coach with experience in England. Since the Premier League is the largest football market in the world, nothing greater can happen for our team.
