In a thrilling match that featured two red cards, Wrexham gave up a one-goal lead and were held to a draw at MK Dons.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Jack Marriott and Sam Dalby gave Wrexham early opportunities to score, but they were unable to do so until halfway through the first half. Luke Young executed a brilliant corner kick, finding James McClean to head the ball in at the near post. But the lead was short-lived, as five minutes later Dan Kemp fired past Arthur Okonkwo to tie the score at one.

The visitors had a strong first half of play, but they nearly lost it when Okonkwo mishandled a simple pass and only just managed to recover it. MK Dons believed they had won the match when Dean Lewington was eventually dismissed for overly vociferating.

Following the dismissal, Phil Parkinson made a triple substitution, inserting Paul Mullin and Steven Fletcher as attackers, but his team was unable to survive. Afterwards, Will Boyle received a second yellow card late in the game, reducing the visitors to 10 men. MK Dons did have a last-gasp opportunity to win it, but Okonkwo preserved a point in the eighth minute of stoppage time with a point-blank save.

THE STAR
On Tuesday night, Luke Young made his 250th appearance for Wrexham and was back in the starting lineup. For the 30-year-old, who capped it off with a superb assist for the first goal, it was an unforgettable event. With the exception of one hiccup, Okonkwo deserves praise as well for making several crucial stops to keep the score close.

THE MAJOR SLagger
With just 13 minutes of normal time remaining, Will Boyle deliberately brought down Dennis to get his second booking of the game, giving Wrexham a man advantage and making them seem dangerous. The red card proved costly as both clubs finished the game with ten goals apiece, severely undermining Wrexham’s chances of winning.

NEXT WHAT HAPPENS?
When Wrexham returns to action in League Two on Saturday at Priestfield Stadium against Gillingham, they’ll be looking to resume their winning ways.
