The most recent information on the Wrexham team as Phil Parkinson’s group prepares to take on MK Dons in League Two this evening.
Wrexham, who won 1-0 at home over Notts County over the weekend, will be going into a difficult road trip to Stadium MK today.
Veteran striker Steven Fletcher gave Wrexham the lead in the 20th minute, and Parkinson’s team held on for a crucial win over their National League title rivals from the previous campaign. With a game left to play, the Red Dragons trail the League Two standings by three points as they attempt to earn consecutive promotions.
On the first day of the 2023–2024 League Two season, the two teams played their rematch. The Dons emerged victorious 5-3 from the Racecourse Ground after an intense eight-goal thriller.
Wrexham team news
Both Ryan Barnett and James Jones are listed as doubts for the match against MK Dons on the team’s website since they both suffered injuries against Notts last time out. After taking a knock against Sutton United on Tuesday, George Evans is also unlikely to be ready, but several of the team’s defensive injuries are starting to heal.
Starting XI
Okonkwo (GK)
McClean
Boyle
O’Connell
Cleworth
Mendy
Lee
Cannon
Young
Fletcher
Marriott
Luke Young replaced Barnett on the bench last weekend, and Jacob Mendy did the same for Jones, so it seems fitting that the two will start in place of the injured players this evening against Mike Williamson’s team.
After their hard-fought victory the previous time out, the majority of the team is unlikely to see too many changes, though Parkinson has loved switching around his strike duo recently and he might do so again later. Fletcher should start after winning the game, but to give the 29-year-old a break in Milton Keynes, January acquisition Jack Marriott may start in place of Paul Mullin.
