Not matter what happens in the NFL season, offseason adjustments are unavoidable. Coaching staffs rarely return year after year in the same configuration, for whatever reason—organizations making tough choices, coordinators advancing up the ranks, or both.
The Miami Dolphins are undergoing significant remodelling this offseason. There won’t be many coaches coming back after Vic Fangio’s departure. The team fired offensive coordinators including Ricardo Allen, Mike Judge, and Kolby Smith, but they mostly cleared house on defence. Brendan Coach was the only non-returner on special teams.
For the position of former offensive and special teams coach, whom have Mike McDaniel and associates hired?
Parks Frazier
Parks Frazier, formerly of the Carolina Panthers, will take over for one of the three offensive assistants who left at the end of the season. Frazier played with the Indianapolis Colts for five years prior to a one-year stint with the Panthers.
After starting as an assistant in 2018 and moving up to positions like assistant quarterbacks coach and offensive quality control coach, Frazier made his way up the ranks in Indianapolis. In 2022, Frazier’s last season with the team, he acquired experience calling plays.
Jonathan Krause
Jonathan Krause, a former wide receiver in the NFL, will accompany Frazier on the Dolphins as an offensive assistant. From 2014 to 2017, Krause played for a number of teams, including the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers, and Tennessee Titans. He was also a member of many practice squads.
In 2018, Krause started working with the University of Oregon’s receivers as a coach. Krause has since worked for UNLV and, most recently, San Diego State.
Roman Sapolu
Roman Sapolu, who was most recently the offensive coordinator at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, is the third and last offensive assistant. With nine seasons of coaching expertise under his belt, Sapolu comes to the Dolphins.
The offensive-minded coach at the University of Hawai’i guided the team to an average of more than thirty points per game, the ninth-best passing offence, and the fourteenth-best total offence.
Ronnie Bradford
Ronnie Bradford, a former fourth-round choice of the Miami Dolphins, will to the Sunshine State in 2024 as the head special teams assistant. Bradford was a defensive back that the Dolphins chose in 1993, although he never appeared in a game for the organisation.
Bradford started his coaching career with the Denver Broncos and then served as the head coach of USC, Cal, and Louisiana Tech among other collegiate schools. Bradford most recently served as the University of Montana’s defensive coordinator.
