With the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi, who has carried on Graham Potter’s legacy, Brighton have emerged as a serious Premier League force to be reckoned with.

Despite a number of significant injuries, the Seagulls are still in the running for the Europa League this season. Their biggest worry, though, is that they might lose De Zerbi.

For their prominent openings, Barcelona, Liverpool, and other elite teams are keeping a careful eye on the Italian manager. Losing their manager would net Brighton ten million euros, but everyone is aware that De Zerbi is worth more.

According to a CNN report Brighton has identified Bruno Andrade of Portugal and Rúben Amorim of Sporting CP as the top candidates to succeed De Zerbi in the event that the former manager of Sassuolo and Shakhtar decides to go on. Amorim is one of the most sought-after young managers in international football, maybe surpassed only by Xabi Alonso, the prospective Bundesliga winner for Bayer Leverkusen.

It’s simply a matter of time till Amorim receives a significant position because Tottenham showed a strong interest in him prior to selecting Celtic prodigy Ange Postecoglou.

After losing De Zerbi, who has made a name for himself as one of the best managers in world football, Brighton would need to find a manager of Amorim’s calibre.

The Seagulls’ next manager must have the ability to be as outstanding as De Zerbi, who is so good that admirers all over the world rank him alongside seasoned elite Premier League managers Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

It would be unrealistic to expect Amorim to perform at the same level as De Zerbi, but the Sporting CP manager has shown he can produce exceptional young players, as evidenced by the development of current starting centre backs Ousmane Diomande and Gonçalo Inácio.

In addition, Sporting is a strong contender for the Portuguese championship, and Amorim has Champions League experience. Similar to De Zerbi at Shakhtar, Brighton’s hopes of winning a European championship may benefit from that.
