Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee have been added to the Wrexham bench, and Phil Parkinson has explained why the 14-goal midfielder was brought on as a substitute against MK Dons.

Consequently, what happened?
Thanks to Hollywood co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, the Red Dragons have assembled a team with the depth needed to contend with a demanding 46-game League Two schedule. Rest and rotation will occasionally be necessary due to the large number of games to watch, especially when domestic cup tournaments are added to the mix.

Recently, Parkinson has started rotating his starting lineup, with star striker Mullin starting a few games in place of others. During their journey to Stadium MK, he was accompanied on the bench by the reliable midfield player Lee. The two played brief cameos in a 1-1 draw that lasted less than 30 minutes each.

PARKINSON’S COMMENTS ABOUT LEE
Parkinson gave the following explanation for Lee’s absence from the Wrexham starting lineup: “Elliot has played more minutes than any other player.” George Evans and James Jones are two additional players who are currently recovering from injuries. I simply thought that he would be more vulnerable to injury if we played him again after he gave it his all over the weekend and the midweek match against Sutton. I didn’t want to take that chance given our injuries. Elliot was amazing when he entered the game after I told him it would be excellent for him to come on after the game had opened for 60 minutes.

WERE YOU AWARENESS?
Parkinson continued, “Both look quite serious for us,” in reference to the injuries sustained by Evans and Jones, who are suffering from hamstring and gluteal issues, respectively. We will need to address the setbacks we have had in that department, but that is the nature of things.

FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
Wrexham, who have reclaimed their spot in League Two’s automatic promotion spots, will play again on Saturday when they travel to Gillingham. Parkinson’s team is currently on a run of three straight away games.
