MK Dons boss makes controversial Wrexham claim
Tuesday night’s match between third-place Wrexham and fifth-place MK Dons at Stadium MK was exciting. Daniel Kemp’s goal in the 26th minute gave the home team a point, bringing the Red Dragons’ lead down to four minutes earlier.
Wrexham goalie Arthur Okonkwo looked to spill Joe Tomlinson’s effort over the line during a major moment of controversy in the second half. However, the goal was not allowed, and Dons captain Dean Lewington was sent off for his appeals.
After Wrexham defender Will Boyle was given a second yellow card in the 77th minute, both teams were reduced to 10 men for the remainder of the match.
Mike Williamson, the head coach of the Dons, was incensed when his team’s goal was disallowed and seemed to imply that there might have been bias on the part of the officials against Wrexham.
“It’s really frustrating, but I have a lot of respect for the manager, the team, and the club.” There have been reasonable objectives for Mansfield and Notts County (ruled out), so I’m not sure if that’s subconsciously influencing their thoughts or if it’s just the momentum the club brings.
