There is still a tonne of Michigan football recruiting news to catch up on, even if college football recruitment is now in a standstill state during the late winter.

This week’s Recruiting Roundup will focus on finding a top-100 safety who has ties to a current Wolverine, a Miami commit who is considering the Wolverines, and one of the top players in Arkansas who has Michigan high on his list despite being recruited by the most coaches before going to the NFL.

2025 top-100 safety talks Michigan being a top school

One of the top safeties in the 2025 class, Jadyn Hudson, stated that the Wolverines had been chasing him in a recent interview with EJ Holland ($) of The Wolverines.

“They were recruiting me really hard before they won the national championship,” Hudson remarked. “In general, they are a fantastic programme. Their defence was excellent. It seems like I could play either the strong safety or the free. In that defence, I could see myself being quite at home.

In his fall edition of his top-10, Hudson included Michigan. His familiarity with current Michigan defensive back Zeke Berry, who expressed admiration for Michigan as a fantastic location to develop as a player, may offer Michigan an advantage in this recruiting class.

“While Jake attended De La Salle, he was raised in Pittsburg, just like me,” Hudson remarked. “He’s given me some excellent information on Michigan. He replied that your efforts are paying off. You’ll pick up a lot of knowledge and truly grow there, he claimed.

Hudson intends to return to school during the summer. Since he hasn’t visited Ann Arbour since the previous year, this would be his second visit.

Hudson remarked, “They have a great environment.” “I visited there early in the spring of last year. The programme for strength and conditioning appealed to me. They work with the athletes so well, changing their physique. I will most definitely return. I simply wish there were more player-perspective content, such as school life.

Among others, he has offers from Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, and Miami. According to two Crystal Ball projections from 247Sports, he will enrol at Oregon. According to the 247Sports aggregate, he is ranked as the eighth-best safety, the 96th-best talent in his class, and the top recruit from California.

2025 four-star Miami LB commit discusses interest in Michigan

One of Michigan’s most recent hires, linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, is said to have contacts with several elite linebackers in recruiting. One such player is Elijah Melendez, a linebacker ranked in the top 150 who committed to Miami in December.

In an interview with Brice Marich from The Michigan Insider ($), Melendez discussed his relationship with the new Michigan coach. Melendez was recruited by Jean-Mary during his tenure as Tennessee’s coach.

“Michigan has consistently maintained communication with me, and the staff has been authentic.” Melendez declared, “I adore Michigan.” We click so well since Coach BJ is authentic and we’re from the same area. Michigan has long been one of my top options. I’ve always loved Michigan, and with coach BJ joining the team, I just hope they recruit me aggressively. Michigan was still ranked in my top three even though they haven’t had a linebacker coach in a few months. We’ll see what they can accomplish with one now.

Melendez praised the winning techniques and culture of Michigan. His enthusiasm to return to college for a couple more visits may influence his choice.

Melendez responded, “Yeah, I’m supposed to go (to Michigan) this spring for an unofficial, then again for an official, and maybe another unofficial really close to signing day.”

Given his current commitment to Miami, Melendez’s desire to return to Michigan three times is quite striking. Even having Jean-Mary in town, it doesn’t seem like the Wolverines will let up on their recruiting efforts, as they were actively seeking him before he committed.

Three-star S discusses conversation with Sherrone Moore

Marcus Wimberly, a 2025 three-star defensive back who is ranked just outside of the top 500 on the composite, is one of the best players in the state of Arkansas and has drawn interest from Michigan. But given that his primary recruiter, Jay Harbaugh, left for the NFL, it’s reasonable for Michigan supporters to wonder if he still has a genuine interest in the programme.

Now that Wimberly has talked to The Michigan Insider’s Marich ($), about a recent conversation he had with new head coach Sherrone Moore, we have some answers.

Wimberly stated, “I have (been in contact with Michigan).” “Coach Moore really gave me a call the other day to ask how I was doing and to express his excitement for me to return to the programme! Coach Popper, the assistant director of recruitment, and I have also been in constant communication.

Wimberly, one of numerous recruits at Ann Arbour for the Ohio State game, declared on December 1 that he was leaving Arkansas. Based on his four most recent Crystal Ball predictions, Oklahoma seems to be his favourite, although Michigan still seems to be around the top of his list right now.

According to Wimberly, “they’re still a top-three school in my recruitment right now, for sure.” There is no state that compares to Michigan. So, yeah, they’re still really high for me, and if we can, I think I’ll return this spring.
