The news that midfielders George Evans and James Jones will be out for extended periods of time has hurt Phil Parkinson.

Evans suffered a glute injury during Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Sutton United, while Jones hobbled off at The Racecourse on Saturday after Wrexham defeated Notts County 1-0.

Both players and Tom O’Connor, who is improving after sustaining a minor foot fracture before to the Welsh derby loss at Newport on 20 January, were not present for Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against promotion rivals MK Dons.

Parkinson responded, “Unfortunately for us, both look quite serious,” when questioned about Evans and Jones.

“We have had set-backs in that department but that’s the way it goes and we will have to address that.”

The Wrexham captain, Luke Young, was selected to start in the midfield at Stadium MK, marking his 250th game with the team.
