According to Dean Jones, Thomas Tuchel is more of the kind of person West Ham would be considering to replace David Moyes than Rob Edwards.

The former Eurosport journalist revealed in an interview with GiveMeSport on Wednesday, February 21, that he recently inquired about the Luton Town manager’s potential interest from someone with strong connections at the London Stadium, but that inquiry was “dismissed out of hand.”

However, he said that he received a “much more positive response” when he brought up Tuchel, who is expected to depart Bayern Munich at the end of the current campaign.

According to Jones, “I do believe that West Ham would be keeping an eye on Tuchel.” As they go past David Moyes, it will be more about the type of manager they are looking for.

They will keep searching for someone with a solid gaming reputation as well as from a very high, established position.

“I recently pitched the notion of someone with strong West Ham ties asking them whether they would be interested in someone like Rob Edwards at Luton, should that become a reality.

“That was rejected out of hand since his profile isn’t appropriate for that position. I had far better reception when I brought up someone like Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel could be ideal fit for West Ham

Edwards has performed admirably at Luton, without a doubt, but at this stage it might be too risky to assign him to West Ham.

The Hammers will bring in someone with experience who has the potential to elevate them to the next level if they opt to let go of Moyes.

After his career at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League in 2021, and his work with other major clubs throughout Europe, Tuchel most definitely fits that description.

The Irons supporters would undoubtedly be excited by the German’s appointment, but there is still a long way to go until it happens because Moyes’ future is still uncertain.

In addition, Graham Potter and Julen Lopetegui are rumoured to be on the shortlist of possible contenders for the London Stadium.

In other West Ham news, Troy Deeney predicted a £200 million haul and shared a “serious” Moyes sacking decision.
