The lacklustre January transfer window, which prevented many players from bringing in the reinforcements they desired, will engender frustration among Celtic supporters.

As everyone is aware, Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn entered the picture and have since done their share of the work; what bothers the Parkhead faithful, though, is what didn’t happen.

Joe Ledley, a former player for the Hoops, expressed earlier this week that he thought Brendan Rodgers hadn’t been handed the team he would have preferred since moving back to Glasgow’s east end.

“You look at Brendan Rodgers’ record at Celtic, what he’s achieved is remarkable,” the former Wales international said. It’s probably not the team he wants right now, and ideally he’ll have further transfer windows to add more players. Still, Brendan is capable of doing this.

Naturally, Rodgers will still believe he can return to the trophy room with a domestic double this season, but with five points behind the Bhoys in the Scottish Premiership with one game remaining, there is no room for error.

Tomorrow at Fir Park, Motherwell will present a formidable challenge to the defending champions. A lot will depend on Celtic’s ability to emerge unscathed and whether this team has what it takes to compete all the way to the top.

Andy Walker can’t understand why Celtic have taken ‘gamble’

Former Celtic striker Andy Walker is baffled as to why his former team chose not to hunt for additional reinforcements in January, calling the choice to not expand the ranks further a “gamble” given the club’s interim report’s results had already become public knowledge.

Walker said, “I don’t think it will wash,” on the Go Radio Football Show. I believe Celtic had a month to recognise that Rangers were getting better above all else. Their manager has advanced both the group as a whole and the players individually with some impressive results.

“The outcomes are improving, but it has been far too long since Celtic’s play, form, and calibre of football were enjoyable to watch.”

“You brush these things aside; Celtic has, of course, been managed successfully for a lot of years. There is no denying the enormous success of the player trade mechanism.

“But considering what’s at stake at the end, why are you taking a chance by not adding one or two players with some pedigree knowing that Rangers are improving and giving yourself the best chance to win this very important title?”

The problem at left-back received more attention than it deserved because the Hoops undoubtedly fell short of expectations during the mid-season window and failed to bring in any reinforcements.

Whatever the case, we have to make every effort to guarantee that we beat Motherwell tomorrow and raise everyone’s spirits.
