After the incredible victory over Hearts, Philippe Clement made fun of “silly stories” involving James Tavernier, the captain of the Rangers, and a trip to Five Guys.

The Scottish Premiership title battle is now five points clear for Rangers after they destroyed the Jambos 5-0 at Ibrox, according to the manager from Belgium.

James Tavernier, the captain of Rangers, was instrumental in the match once more as goals from Oscar Cortes, Mohamed Diomande, Fabio Silva, and Cyriel Dessers twice sent a strong championship message.

However, Philippe Clement’s remarks about the Ibrox skipper going full-time had one commentator looking like he had an egg on his face.

Philippe Clement on James Tavernier Five Guys claims

During last weekend’s 3-0 victory over St Johnstone, vocal commentator Gordon Parks cheaply attacked Rangers skipper James Tavernier.

The Daily Record writer specifically said that Tav’s “gravitas” wasn’t appropriate for a Rangers captain, using an incident with the Ibrox captain at Five Guys as an example of their post-match interaction.

After the game, in response to a query regarding the claims, Philippe Clement categorically refuted them, calling them “silly stories” and asserting that James Tavernier was on the team.

“I’ve heard some things from people,” Clement remarked.

“You know better because the player was with us in the stadium if I read that they arrived one hour after the final whistle.

“I don’t pay any attention to any of these silly stories.”

The Rangers skipper has just one chance to dispel sceptics.
James Tavernier was undoubtedly unfazed by the bad publicity, as Rangers supporters are accustomed to it whenever the team is performing well.

Rangers’ progress on the pitch is distracted by the attack on the captain of the Gers’ personality, and we’re confident that nobody at Ibrox will have slept a wink over it.

James Tavernier, the captain of the Rangers who won the League Cup, will carry on with his season despite Philippe Clement’s suggestion that the allegations are a case of manufactured outrage.

The Ibrox captain will be fully focused on celebrating a treble haul come May even though there is still quite some time left in this campaign until the final whistle blows.

We believe that even Gordon Parks wouldn’t mind giving James Tavernier a celebratory Five Guys come summertime if he succeeds!
