Archie Grey received a message from Kalvin Phillips on social media following the young player’s goal for Leeds United in their 3-1 victory over Leicester City.

In the thrilling win at Elland Road on Friday, February 23, Grey scored his first goal as a senior for the team. The Championship leaders were defeated.

Due to a strong deflection from Leicester defender Wout Faes, it was first ruled an own goal, but Grey was fast to contest it.

On February 24, the 17-year-old shared a photo of himself having fun on his own Instagram account, writing, “9 wins in a row! Great way to achieve my first objective! We don’t stop moving.

“Wonderboy!!!” was the response from Phillips, a former Leeds favourite who is currently on loan at West Ham from Manchester City.

Kalvin Phillips to Leeds United return touted

Phillips’ heart belongs to Leeds United, and it very likely always will. That gives credence to rumours of a potential reunion should the Whites win the pennant this season.

Although Phillips has had a difficult time in the Premier League with Man City and now West Ham, a trip back to Elland Road may be a way out.

Gray is now very much a favourite of many supporters after what has been a superb breakthrough campaign. The youngster has belied his age by playing in a number of positions.

It is at full-back he has featured most prominently this season, and that is where he netted his goal – if it does indeed get awarded to him – against Leicester.

That striker helped Leeds to a memorable victory and one that ensures automatic promotion remains in our hands as the games tick down.
