Before their Friday night trip to Leeds United, Jamie Vardy sustained an injury during training. Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has updated supporters on the striker.
After two straight losses, Leicester City appeared to have already locked up a spot in the top two, but now Leeds United in second place and Ipswich Town in third are only six points behind the Foxes.

Leicester City’s chances of winning the title were severely damaged by their earlier week loss at Elland Road, and to make matters worse, they were without their star player, Vardy.

He is among the most productive players in the Championship with four goals in his previous four games, but he could be sidelined for a considerable amount of time due to an injury sustained in training.

Manager Maresca stated in an interview with Leicestershire Live that he was unsure of the precise duration of his absence, but it is expected to be “a while.”

“I’m not sure. He’ll be absent for some time. I’m not sure how long exactly,” he said.

A blow but Leicester City have enough

Despite a few stumbles, Leicester City has clearly been the best team in the league this year. They should have enough to get across the finish line and secure a promotion, regardless of whether they have Vardy available and fit.

The Foxes can choose among Patson Daka, Tom Cannon, and Kelechi Iheanacho, all of whom are good enough to start for most teams in the second division. They do, therefore, have a tonne of choices now that Vardy is not around.

The supporters of Leicester City will be praying that this isn’t the final time they see their lucky forward. Supporters will be crossing their fingers that he returns before the end of the season to help them win the Championship trophy or get promoted. He is currently 37 years old and his contract expires in the summer.
