After having a difficult start to the season, Coventry City has improved over the last several months and is now in the play-off zone.

The Sky Blues lost the play-off final against Luton Town on penalties shootout, almost missing out on promotion the previous year.

The team led by Mark Robins was somewhat of a hangover from that setback, and things became worse when important players left in the summer.

But the team is now competing for a position in the top six and will be looking to improve on their campaign for a return to the top flight from last year.

However, there’s a chance that more significant players will leave CBS Arena this summer.

Here, we examine the probable player departures at Coventry starting in June.

Callum O’Hare

Since returning to full fitness towards the end of 2023, Callum O’Hare has been a particularly notable player for the Robins team.

This season, the midfielder has contributed to the team’s ascent up the standings and into the play-off race with a number of crucial goals.

But his contract is slated to expire at the end of the current campaign, meaning he may leave the team without having to pay anything.

Given that negotiations are still underway for a new contract, his departure would be a severe blow.

A number of teams have previously expressed interest in signing O’Hare, including Southampton, Leicester City, and Burnley.

Liam Kelly

From his summer 2017 arrival to Coventry, Liam Kelly has been a vital member of the squad.

He witnessed the Sky Blues’ ascent from League Two to the Championship play-off championship.

However, this campaign’s game time has been severely limited, and his value to the team is diminishing.

There is still question about his future at CBS Arena beyond this season because his contract is scheduled to expire in the summer.

After a fruitful seven years at Coventry, a departure from the club in June may be imminent.

Simon Moore

Simon Moore, 33, is well down the Coventry pecking order, with Brad Collins and Ben Wilson currently ahead of him. The 33-year-old has established himself as the team’s third choice between the sticks thus far this season.

A departure seems highly likely because the player’s contract is slated to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The custodian joined the Sky Blues in 2021, although he hasn’t seen on the pitch since January 2023, when the team lost to Wrexham in the FA Cup third round.

Ben Sheaf

A crucial player for Robins’ team in their pursuit of Premier League promotion is Ben Sheaf.

After Gustavo Hamer left, the midfielder stepped up his game and has been a pillar of the squad when healthy. When he returns from a hamstring injury, Robins will want to make sure he plays a significant part in the final stretch.

However, it was stated in January that Luton was considering the 26-year-old.

Even if a deal never happened, the Hatters might show interest in the player again after the season ends.
