The Sun claims that West Ham officials are prepared to offload defender Nayef Aguerd at the end of the current campaign.

The tabloid speculated on Sunday, February 25, on its website that the Hammers would profit from the Moroccan international given their intention to make a significant summer transfer window purchase of a center-back.

It further stated that although Manchester City and Liverpool expressed interest in the 27-year-old last summer, it is unlikely that they will submit a bid for him at the end of the current campaign.

Could West Ham get decent money selling Nayef Aguerd?

Aguerd had a very dismal second season with West Ham despite showing flashes of brilliance throughout the previous campaign.

The centre back helped the Hammers win the Europa Conference League in 2022 after just recovering from an injury setback a few weeks after joining from Rennes.

However, this year has been very different for him as he has put in a number of unsteady backfield performances, raising doubts about whether he ought to start.

Even with his potential transfer fee, it would be surprising if we could recoup the £30 million we spent the French club for the Moroccan 18 months prior.

But given that none of our current central defensive alternatives have performed particularly well this season, it’s hardly surprising that we’re trying to bolster the position in the summer.

It would be surprising if we could recover the £30 million we paid the French club for the Moroccan 18 months ago, even with his possible transfer fee.

However, it’s not shocking that we’re looking to bolster the position in the summer considering how poorly all of our current central defensive options have played this season.
