Ahead of Leeds United’s FA Cup trip to Chelsea on Wednesday night, Daniel Farke has given a crucial injury update.

Before Leeds United’s FA Cup match against Chelsea, Daniel Farke has given an update on the status of injuries for players including Daniel James, Patrick Bamford, and Crysencio Summerville.

The three played a part in Friday night’s crucial 3-1 victory over Leicester City for the Whites.

Summerville was substituted off at stoppage time as the game was drawing to a finish. James and Bamford also entered the game from the bench.

This Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge, Daniel Farke’s team will play Chelsea, which is another big midweek match for Leeds.

In the event of a draw, the winner advances to the FA Cup quarterfinals, while the loser is eliminated from the competition. Replays will not be used to decide the winner of a tie.

Daniel Farke provides Leeds injury update

Farke stated prior to the game on Wednesday night that Bamford and Summerville are doubtful for the journey to London.

He expressed worries over Georginio Rutter’s fitness to play, but he is certain that James and Sam Byram would be ready for selection.

According to Farke, “Patrick showed a little reaction to his calf,” via Leeds Live (14.35).

“Summerville is also under suspicion.

Dan James has a little bruising, but he ought to be able to work.

“There are also doubts about Summerville.

Dan James should be able to work even though he has some minor bruises.

The Yorkshire team was behind 1-0 after the fifteenth minute, but Gray’s goal gave them the lead.

After Connor Roberts tied the score in the 80th minute, Patrick Bamford scored in stoppage time to complete the three-point victory.

Leeds now sits just six points behind Enzo Maresca’s squad atop the Championship table after the win.

Ipswich Town’s 3-1 victory on Saturday, though, means that there is still no separation in third place.

With 12 games remaining, the Tractor Boys are only behind Leeds on goal differential, making the race for the second automatic promotion spot very close.

After losing 2-1 to Millwall at home, Southampton dropped out of the top three and is now five points behind Leeds.

Farke’s team’s next league match is an away trip to Huddersfield Town on 2 March for a Yorkshire derby.

Minor injury concerns at Leeds

Considering how important the midweek match against Huddersfield is on Saturday, Farke might decide to play it cautiously and rest some of his starters.

Given how crucial Summerville and Bamford are to the squad right now, it doesn’t seem wise to take a chance on a potential long-term injury during an FA Cup match.

Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto, and James should make it simple to rotate while maintaining a competitive squad.

Sam Byram’s return is also a huge plus because the defender has been instrumental in their campaign for promotion this year.

Even if Rutter misses the Chelsea match, his condition is not encouraging, but at least it doesn’t appear like a long-term absence is imminent.
