This season in the Championship, Summerville has shown himself to be a class above, and if Leeds are not promoted, his future is certain.
Since the beginning of the year, United has been in incredible form and has won every Championship game they have played in 2024.
The dynamic attacking group of Farke’s team, especially the Whites’ unmatched depth of wide attackers in the Championship, is one of their key advantages.
Crysencio Summerville, a former Feyenoord player, has been especially important for Leeds this year, with a noteworthy 15 goals and 8 assists in 31 Championship games played thus far in 2023–24.
Summerville is a level above the Championship
This season, Summerville has proven he is too excellent for the second division; in the Championship, only Adam Armstrong and Morgan Whittaker have contributed more goals than the 22-year-old.
In the meanwhile, the Dutchman recorded four goals and two assists in the 2022–2023 Premier League season. If he is a top player the following season, he should be able to increase on that total.
Summerville, who has demonstrated that his skill level is above that of the second tier, will undoubtedly leave the Yorkshire team if they do not immediately return to the Premier League. His growth under Farke has been outstanding, and promotion appears to be in the cards for the Whites.
There has already been transfer interest in Summerville
It comes as no surprise, considering the star’s outstanding play for the Whites this season, that Fabrizio Romano claimed ahead of the January transfer window that Premier League team Aston Villa was interested in the player.
Summerville is unlikely to be playing in the Premier League come 2024–2025 even if Farke’s team does not make it up to the top division, as top-flight suitors are not exactly lacking in their interest in the wide attacker, as Alan Nixon noted back in December.
Given Summerville’s recent success, international teams are also probably considering him. In January, for example, Lazio expressed interest in Jonathan Rowe and Jack Clarke, demonstrating that elite European teams are
Leeds will almost certainly lose Summerville in the summer if not promoted
Summerville has a crucial part to play in the Whites’ pursuit of the top division, and if they want to keep the star, they just need to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first opportunity.
But when the Whites play Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round midweek, all eyes in the Premier League will be on the winger once more.
Summerville’s lightning-fast speed will probably be crucial if Farke’s team pulls off an upset because the Whites’ best chance of scoring against Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues will undoubtedly come from their counterattacking approach.
The 22-year-old demonstrated his quality in the fourth round replay victory over Plymouth Argyle, even though he only entered the game in the 93rd minute. He scored a goal and provided an assist in extra time as the Whites defeated the opposition 4-1 after being held to a draw for more than 90 minutes at Home Park.
However, given the Premier League’s interest in Summerville, anything short of promotion will probably entice him to leave Elland Road.
