A timely boost to Wrexham’s injury list has come from Phil Parkinson’s announcement that George Evans and James Jones should “play again this season.”

Consequently, what happened?
In the Red Dragons’ 2-1 victory against Sutton United, Evans suffered a glute issue, and Jones hobbled out of a 1-0 victory over Notts County due to a hamstring issue. The severity of these problems is greater than initially believed, and spells on the treatment table must be treated seriously.

Even though Parkinson’s engine room is currently devoid of players, no timeline is set for the return of either midfielder. Although they won’t be hurried back into action, it is hoped that in 2023–2024, neither will be seen for the last time.

PARKINSON’S MENTION
Before Wrexham’s midweek trip to Forest Green Rovers, Parkinson gave an update on Evans and Jones’ fitness, saying, “I expect them to play again this season but they are facing longer term injuries than we first thought.” We will rescan them both, and once we get those further scans, we will be able to make more informed decisions.”

FUTURE PLANS FOR WREXHAM?
There are 13 games left for Wrexham this season, therefore time is running out for all of the players who are presently sidelined. Parkinson plans to make the most of his remaining opportunities, including arranging for co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to get another automatic promotion party.
