Due to a severe back injury, Kaoru Mitoma is expected to miss the remainder of Brighton’s campaign. Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Mitoma will be sidelined for “two or three months.”

The Japan international was sidelined for a lengthy amount of time due to a back issue that prevented him from playing during the weekend’s stalemate with Everton, according to De Zerbi.

The Italian stated during a press conference on Tuesday, “I think we lost Mitoma until the end of the season.”

It’s a significant issue. In my estimation, the season ended after two or three months.Due to additional injuries and his absence for the Asian Cup, Mitoma has only made 19 Premier League games this season, 15 of which have been in a starting lineup. The Seagulls’ chances of returning to European football for a second straight season would be severely harmed by losing the forward for the remainder of the season. Wednesday night’s FA Cup match between Brighton and Wolves will see De Zerbi try to win his first trophy in England.

The Italian eliminated Joel Veltman and Evan Ferguson from the competition, leaving only Solly March, Joao Pedro, and Jack Hinshelwood out.

“(Evan) Ferguson isn’t able to play tomorrow because of an ankle injury.” We need to check because Danny Welbeck has an issue, De Zerbi remarked.

“The other injured players cannot play, including Joel Veltman.”
