Brendan Rodgers was interviewed for the Celtic View post-match interview yesterday night at Celtic Park, following his team’s seven goals against Dundee. The Celtics manager began the talk by complimenting young Daniel Kelly and his team’s overall play, which he called “outstanding.”

Brendan was also full of admiration for the Celtic supporters, who gave their own assessment following the blow of the half whistle and gave a particularly heartfelt standing ovation to the team that had smashed Dundee for six goals in the first half.

Brendan Rodgers: “That was excellent.” There was the right amount of tempo, passing, and inventiveness. It was an amazing evening. We scored some fantastic goals. Daniel Kelly, one of our young players, scores the team’s first goal ever. He has been a Celtics fan since he was eight years old, therefore I can be jealous of him since it shows that all of his hard work has paid off. He had a terrific finish to it. The gamers’ perseverance in working and fighting through the game’s challenges makes me very delighted for them. There were moments when the football was simply superb.

Celtic TV: You spoke before the game about the squad and everyone contributing. You have scored seven goals and you have seven different goalscorers. Does that give you a great deal of satisfaction?

Brendan Rodgers: “That is how it has to be. It is no good just having one player who scores 35 goals this season. We need goals from elsewhere. So, that was really nice.”

Celtic TV: The backing you got from the fans was wonderful. I don’t think I have heard a response like that when you came off at half-time. It is a real team effort from the stands onto the pitch and into the dugout and everywhere else, isn’t it? It all came together tonight, didn’t it?

Brendan Rodgers: “I must say a big congratulations to the supporters because we are here to entertain them and we need their backing and encouragement. At half-time the reception we got filled us with great pride. A Wednesday night in front of a full house is great.”

Celtic TV: Every game is a cup final and you will have another through in Edinburgh at the weekend. Will you be looking for similar levels of application again?

Brendan Rodgers: “That’s it. We have to be ready for every game. You cannot soften up and become timid. You have to keep pushing and pressing. It is a tough one for Dundee as I thought they worked hard and gave everything in the game. I just felt that the speed and quality of our game and the quality of our goals were at a really high level. I am so pleased for the players.”
