Daniel Farke has options when Leeds United plays Huddersfield Town in the Championship on Saturday afternoon, so we asked our club writer to select the starting lineup he would like.

Archie Gray’s midfield display on Wednesday left everyone dumbfounded, and on Saturday afternoon, it feels impossible to oppose him in the centre. Leeds United may be able to maintain the 17-year-old in the midfield against Huddersfield Town as their injury situation appears to have eased slightly over the course of the week.

Despite his lacklustre performance at Chelsea, Connor Roberts is healthy and prepared to play right back. The Burnley loanee ought to do well in his league comeback. Meanwhile, it’s simpler to keep Grey there given Ilia Gruev’s struggles this week.

Daniel Farke hasn’t ruled out the Bulgarian, but I wouldn’t take a chance on him given the amount of games left on a busy calendar. Glen Kamara, who had slept well on Wednesday, has to return to the engine room as well.

His ability to balance out Grey as two box-to-box midfielders may be in doubt. The Finland international could be able to maintain a little more discipline and hang in there while Grey takes the lead going ahead.

Despite captain Liam Cooper’s stellar performance at Stamford Bridge, Kamara’s return forces Ethan Ampadu to slide back into defence. Junior Firpo appears to be the only practical choice at left back given Jamie Shackleton’s illness and Sam Byram’s continued need for nursing.

My plan for Huddersfield would be to start a fresh, rested front four. Farke has expressed optimism for Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, and Patrick Bamford.

Starting Bamford could be a risk, but if he can muster several complete training sessions this week, he will be the obvious favourite over Joel Piroe.
