Phil Parkinson claims his team couldn’t have done much better on their most recent travels and is unconcerned about Wrexham’s away performance.

Consequently, what happened?
Only two of the Welsh team’s last eight League Two games have they won, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night thanks to a stoppage-time penalty kick by Paul Mullin. And even though their away record is the tenth best in the division, manager Parkinson believes that the total number of points matters more than their home and away performances.

PHIL PARKINSON’S QUOTES
“Hopefully, the points total—whether they are at home or away—will determine the top-three finish,” he stated, as reported by the Welsh newspaper The Leader. We have now dropped one of the last four games after drawing at Forest Green, losing at Gillingham, playing brilliantly when we drew at MK Dons, and defeating Sutton. We are limited to what we have done in the last four away games. We have rejuvenated the team and, should the need arise, have a backup plan available from the bench. We’re doing everything we can to maintain our domination, but if you go back six weeks ago, you’ll see that we were unable to maintain control throughout the last four away games.

Wrexham had the opportunity to return to the automatic promotion spots during the middle of the week, but Crewe Alexandra is now in third place. The Red Dragons have the greatest home record in the competition and are only three points behind Mansfield Town, the league leaders. However, they cannot afford to give up so many points in the remaining games of the season if they hope to place among the top three.

Next?
Next up for fourth-placed Wrexham is a Saturday home match at the Racecourse against 15th-placed Accrington Stanley. The Welsh team will seek to extract revenge this time around because the ‘Owd Reds won the rematch 2-0 back in November.
