Today, Brazilian team Internacional announced the signing of Alexandro Bernabei from Celtic, marking his temporary departure from Brendan Rodgers’ team.
The Colorado Rockies state on their official website that they “reached an agreement” with Celtic about the fullback’s loan through the end of 2024.
Although the Brazilian media has been reporting that Inter will have the option to purchase Bernabei, neither the club nor any recent reports have confirmed this. It is also unclear how much that would cost them.
With just 429 minutes in nine games this season, the fullback has been playing a fairly small role for Celtic. Not even to their final three Scottish Premiership games was he brought.
In 2022, Bernebei signed a €4.35 million contract to join Celtic Park from Lanus. He has now made 28 appearances for the team overall.
His deal with Brendan Rodgers’ team expires in2027, so we’ll see what transpires at the end of the year. If he makes a strong impression at Internacional, he might be able to relocate permanently to Brazil.
However, a lot will depend on Celtic’s demand for the sale, so in the upcoming months, he should revisit that topic.
